Highway Shootings Near Battle Creek On I-94 And I-69 Investigated
Police are investigating after a series of motorists have reported being shot at along I-94, and I-69, in Calhoun and Branch counties.
“They’re all different types of vehicles”, Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Saxton said.
No injuries have been reported.
There are two stretches of highway where incidents have happened – I-94 between I-69 and 11 Mile Road and on 1-69 between M-60 and Jonesville Road.
Police know that in at least one of those incidents the projectile left lead residue at the site of damage, which they say is consistent with damage from a firearm. He says they don’t all come from the same angle and have hit all parts of the cars, Its not clear if the shooter is firing from another vehicle, the side of the road or the kind of gun being used.
Police have uncovered more reports of the incidents, which have occurred “both day and night” in areas east of Battle Creek and north of Coldwater, since releasing initial details on August 19, the release said.
If your auto has been damaged or if you’ve seen suspicious activity near an overpass or exit, call law enforcement immediately.
Calhoun County’s Major Crimes Task Force has been activated and investigators here have contacted the detectives in the Rowlie Castille highway sniper case between Lansing and Detroit.
