Higuain rejected Juventus to join Arsenal?
Juventus are doing little to dampen speculation linking them with Gonzalo Higuain, but Napoli are not planning to lose their star striker.
That is according to Gazzetta World, who say the Serie A outfit will not allow Higuain to leave for anything less than his release fee of €94.5million.
Reports in Italy cited by Goal claimed that Arsene Wenger hopes to agree a deal of £41million plus Giroud for the services of the 28-year-old.
Higuain was Serie A’s top scorer last season with 36 goals from 35 games.
Arsenal have been long linked with the striker and a suggestion that a bid involving Olivier Giroud plus cash had been offered for Higuain was made last week. As for the Arsenal player rumored to be going the other way, it’s striker Olivier Giroud.
However, with Juventus and Arsenal both linked with the Argentina worldwide, who is due back at Napoli on 25th July following his efforts in the Copa America in the United States this summer, speculation around the striker’s future looks set to rumble on.
Higuain, who joined Napoli from Real Madrid in 2013, has two years remaining on his contract at the Stadio San Paolo.
While the Bianconeri recovered after a poor start to the season to win the league title comfortably, Napoli were the team that looked most likely to put them under pressure.
“Arsenal are trying to free up funds by selling players so they can increase the economic part of the offer”.
The Argentina worldwide scored 36 goals last season to break Gunnar Nordahl’s 66-year-old record of 35 goals for AC Milan in a 20-team season, which he achieved in 1950.
Serie A club representatives attended a league meeting on Monday, and on Juve’s agenda was a discussion about the Argentine forward.
