Hillary Clinton asked whether her email server was wiped clean
Clinton has been accused of wiping her private email server, and dodged reporters’ questions on Tuesday whether the accusations were true. She replied, “What with like a cloth or something?”
Right-wing media figures jumped to the false conclusion that 305 Clinton emails contained classified information after the State Department announced that those emails were under review by intelligence agencies. “What I did was legally permitted”, Clinton said.
“What was supposed to be convenient has turned out to be anything but convenient”, she said, reiterating that she “wants Americans to understand” that when it comes to whether or not she sent or received any classified emails, the process would be the same whether or not she had used a government account.
When it comes to using a private server for her e-mails when she was secretary of state, Hillary Clinton “didn’t really think it through”, according to her communications director. On the August 18 edition of Fox News’ Hannity, correspondent Ed Henry claimed, “what’s new here, what’s also facts, are that it appears that [Clinton] leaked classified information – that, you know, that these two inspectors general are saying there’s hundreds of emails with classified information that got out there”. “If it has been a government account and I said released it, we would be having the same arguments”.
“What she doesn’t realize is, this is not a joke”, National Journal reporter Ron Fournier said. Only a month ago trump had a 16 – I mean was 16 points behind Hillary Clinton.
Whether or not the emails were labeled as secret, some other Republicans say Clinton should have known better.
“She’s not going to be able to stonewall because it’s out of her hands”, Krauthammer said.
Kendall said in the letter to the committee that he and another lawyer at his firm were given security clearances by the State Department to handle a thumb drive that contained about 3,000 emails later turned over to the agency.
But the feds are already developing an investigative approach to how they will unravel the many mysteries connected with the server and will try to determine which – if any – laws were broken.
One of the requests sought travel records of any State Department employees who visited Chappaqua between 2008-13.
“I don’t know how they run their operation now, but we literally had our server racks in the bathroom”.
Brian Fallon, the Clinton campaign’s press secretary, told reporters on a conference call Wednesday that the Fox report identifying the emails was “a watershed” moment. It’s not clear if the tens of thousands of erased emails are still accessible to federal agents; Platte River Services, the Colorado company that dealt with Clinton’s private server, told ABC News that it was “highly likely” a backup copy of the server was made.
