Hillary Clinton Deemed ‘Insider’ Threat in Army Training
Thomas Campbell, spokesman for the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command, had a terse statement for reporters. A photo of retired Army Gen. David Petraeus, who pleaded guilty in 2012 to mishandling classified materials, is shown next to Clinton.
“You might be surprised to learn that a lot of soldiers are defending the slide, and they note that it’s legitimate to consider Hillary Clinton a insider threat because of her use of private email address and classified information”, he says.
The Army Times reported it was removed from the presentation “promptly”.
An Army spokesperson said: “As is common with Army training requirements, the local unit was given latitude to develop their own training products to accomplish the overall training objective”.
Kretchman noted, however, that the presentation in question was not reviewed or approved by unit leadership and that it “does not reflect the position of the Army”. Moments Facebook page on Sunday.
MSNBC correspondent Andrea Mitchell told fellow reporter Chris Jansing on Tuesday that it was pretty “astounding” that if Clinton were to win the election, she would be the US commander-in-chief. Nidal Hasan (who shot and killed 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009), Aaron Alexis (who shot and killed 12 people at the Washington Navy Yard in 2013), Chelsea Manning (convicted in 2013 for leaking documents while an active-duty soldier) and Edward Snowden (who leaked classified National Security Agency surveillance information in 2013).
Clinton’s inclusion would appear to be inspired by her use of a private email server during her four years at the State Department.
The slide describes Petraeus and Clinton as “careless or disgruntled employees”.
The presentation had to do with how classified information should be handled, according to Stars and Stripes. While FBI Director James Comey said in July that Clinton’s actions were “extremely careless”, he recommended that no criminal charges be brought against her and none were.
