Hillary Clinton didn’t win Democratic debate say focus groups
“Clinton’s willingness to engage Sanders on gun control established her progressive credentials”, David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center in Boston, said in a statement.
When legions of DC insiders concluded that Hillary Clinton won the Democratic debate on Tuesday, I was instinctually more skeptical.
But Clinton’s strong performance in the first Democratic presidential debate Tuesday night appears to have given her a boost.
The debate was unlikely to shake up a race in which Clinton leads Sanders by double digits in national polls and remains the overwhelming favorite to win the Democratic nomination due to her financial and organizational advantages.
Several recent polls had shown the Vermont independent had been leading Clinton in the Granite State, which Clinton had won in the 2008 presidential primary.
He did not respond to a shouted question about when he’ll announce his decision, and Clinton refused to comment on the impact Biden’s indecision may have on Democratic party chances in the general election.
Throughout the summer, Clinton has faced questions over her use of a private email server while serving as secretary of state.
“I think the American people are sick and exhausted of hearing about your damn emails”, said Sen. Barack Obama used an impressive nuts-and-bolts operation to overtake Clinton’s favored campaign.
She noted the debate was “very civilized” and that there was “no denigration of women as we have seen in the past”.
As Secretary of State, Clinton championed the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) 24 times by saying it would raise standards and provide economic growth.
“Nobody does, Senator Sanders”, Clinton interjected. A RealClearPolitics.com look at surveys testing various match-ups suggests that Clinton, Biden, or Sanders could beat the current Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, but Biden would have a more comfortable margin (11 points) compared to Clinton (1.6 points) or Sanders (4.3).
Gun laws – a topic which gains public attention after almost every mass shooting – formed part of the debate Tuesday night as the Democratic presidential candidates met in Las Vegas.
“You change your positions on political expediency”, Cooper said. “Our country’s doing better, we are creating jobs again”, O’Malley said. When asked whether he had ever been in handcuffs, Sanders replied, “I don’t know exactly what you mean by that”, prompting an eruption of laughter from the crowd, the New York Times reported. “They treated each other civilly so I can agree with that”. Mr. Biden has to decide now and not kick the can down the road because of deadlines.
