Hillary Clinton, Jimmy Fallon Talk Donald Trump And Bernie Sanders On ‘The
The RealClearPolitics average of New Hampshire polls has Sanders ahead by 6 points – and in Iowa, the candidates are tied in the RCP average, which Clinton led for months.
Hillary Clinton has always been a problem-solver, though she didn’t always see herself as a future president, her husband told Iowans Friday. “Someone opened a window and said ‘Don’t bother, turn around and keep walking, ‘ and we got a few angry looks”. When asked if she was intimidated by Trump, she said simply, “No”.
“This is not a flip flop”, said Jeff Weaver, Sanders’ campaign manager. If he is driven to the dog house by one of their frequent marital spats – and Hillary Clinton is not likely to be forgiving if he costs her votes – she could be cut off from advice that would save her.
“Sen. Sanders wants to dismantle Obamacare, dismantle the CHIP program, dismantle Medicare, and dismantle private insurance”, Clinton said in New Hampshire Jan. 12. Public attacks on his plans for a single-payer health care system, for example, appear to have had little effect.
Clinton spokesman Brian Fallon said Saturday that Sanders has yet to acknowledge he was on the wrong side of the issue in 2005.
A national New York Times/CBS News poll shows Clinton with the support of 48% of Democratic voters, and Sanders closing in with 41%. But the reality in either situation is that Clinton’s lead, which most observers believed would be insurmountable, has essentially vanished. After Iowa and New Hampshire – two overwhelmingly white states – Sanders faces an electorate that is much more diverse and not as familiar with Sanders, especially in the South, which at the moment is Clinton Country.
“She’s had a lot of tough press and a lot of pounding from the GOP where, at their last debate, they spent a lot of time criticizing her and Obama, (more) than they did each other”, Goldford said.
“Basically what he is doing is saying, ‘Hey, we need to start all over again, lets tear (Obamacare) up and replace it. Details to be forth coming, ‘” Clinton told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”.
Former president Bill Clinton, who is barnstorming Iowa on behalf of his wife’s campaign, recounted meeting and wooing her at Yale law school.
Clinton said she agrees with universal health care.
The Sanders campaign said it would also introduce an amendment to Blumenthal and Schiff legislation aimed at protecting small gun sellers.
The central fight among Democrats could come down to how voters will perceive Sanders, the wispy-haired 74-year-old former mayor of Burlington, Vt., and whether they think his ideology could be a help or a hindrance.
While Clinton admits not watching this evening’s debate, she says she does like catching up later because “I love to be able to fast forward”.
