Hillary Clinton pins ‘establishment’ label on Bernie Sanders
“It is not about Senator Sanders”.
“In theory, there’s a lot to like about some of his ideas, but “in theory” isn’t enough”, Clinton said Thursday on a campaign stop in Iowa.
Karly Sigmund, a 19-year-old freshman from Altoona, Iowa, said she doesn’t even listen to Lovato – she just wanted to see Clinton – but she’s still leaning toward supporting Sanders.
The CNN/ORC International poll released Thursday has Sanders polling at 51 percent among likely Democratic caucus-goers, while Clinton sits at 43 percent.
“This proposal to more aggressively normalize relations and to move to warm relations with Iran not only breaks with President Obama’s policy, it breaks with the sober and responsible diplomatic approach that’s been working for the United States”, Jake Sullivan, Clinton’s senior policy adviser, told reporters in a conference call.
“Donald Trump’s assessment of the situation – being the brilliant scientist that he is – is that climate change is a hoax created by the Chinese”, Sanders said.
Bernie Sanders is the only one I can feel confident is on the side of the average person.
“Sanders organizers seem to be making some headway”, said Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, who says he’s likely to endorse Clinton. Mr. Sanders spoke of a future in which health care is cheap and a right for everyone, a future in which the wealthy can not control politics with their campaign contributions and elect their allies.
Well, I have to say I didn’t understand that at all.
“Her diehard supporters are feeling confident, but inside the campaign there is concern as much that she could lose to Sanders in Iowa and/or New Hampshire as what a long protracted, costly battle with Sanders could mean throughout the spring”. The Clinton camp hit that one fast, as did Planned Parenthood and Emily’s List, both of whom have sent out statements saying they’re disappointed in how Sanders talks about issues like abortion.
At these last stops across Iowa before the caucuses, flanked by her campaign’s signature “Fighting For Us” signs, Clinton has taken to naming the men and women she’s met in her nine months on the campaign trail, people who’ve shared their problems and need urgent, pragmatic solutions, she says. “I want to thank her for how fearless she is, how confident she is”, she said of the outspoken singer-songwriter.
Clinton is in the midst of a campaign swing through Iowa today, where she’s been escalating her attacks on Sanders. “And with your help as president, I will deliver for you”.
