Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign Plagued By Continuing Email Scandal
FBI agents investigating Hillary Rodham Clinton’s private email server are seeking to determine who at the State Department passed highly classified information from secure networks to Clinton’s personal account, according to law-enforcement and diplomatic officials and others briefed on the investigation.
“The revelation that Secretary Clinton used a private company, Platte River Networks, to maintain her personal server raises questions about what steps the company took to preserve and secure sensitive information in Secretary Clinton’s email“, Johnson said.
“The bottom line: This kind of nonsense comes with the territory of running for president“, Palmieri wrote.
[Inspector General for Intelligence Charles] McCullough also told lawmakers that his reviewers found two e-mails they believe contain information that the State Department considers classified, and they have alerted the agency so it can conduct its own review.
Giving a boost to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign, Former Senator-Tom Harkin of Iowa came out in her support on Thursday. Hillary Clinton’s emails would have been potentially a target for foreign espionage.
Democrats were most forgiving, with 27 percent thinking Clinton lied and 29 percent seeing her server use as a national security danger.
The FBI has declined to give details about the nature of its investigation and who it might encompass, although it is likely to prove an unwelcome distraction for Clinton for months as she tries to keep voters focused on her policy proposals. “She knows she did something wrong and has run out of ways to cover it up”.
Evidently, the story began unraveling when a Romanian hacker who went by the name Guccifer wormed his way into the email account of longtime Clinton confidante and partisan Sidney Blumenthal, who was working as a consultant. She lied about her server, she also lied about Benghazi.
Officials are investigating whether classified information was improperly sent, though it’s not clear if the device will yield any information.
Clinton says she exchanged about 60,000 emails in her four years as secretary of state. The department has been making those public after scrubbing sensitive material.
On August. 6, the thumb drive was transferred a few blocks from Kendall’s office at the prestigious Washington law firm of Williams & Connolly to a secure facility in the Justice Department, the officials said.
While neither of the emails was marked classified at the time they were sent, they have since been slapped with a “TK” marking, for “Talent Keyhole”, suggesting material obtained by spy satellites.
The State Department’s status update was ordered by U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Judge Emmet Sullivan earlier this week.
“State Department employees apparently circulated the emails on unclassified systems in 2009 and 2011, and some were ultimately forwarded to Mrs. Clinton”.
