Hillary Clinton responds to Trump’s comments
Donald Trump insists that when he said Hillary Clinton got “schlonged” in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary, he actually wasn’t being vulgar.
The real estate mogul also called it “disgusting” that Clinton missed a brief part of Saturday’s Democratic presidential debate to use the restroom.
Now, after spending weeks largely out of the spotlight nationally, Clinton plans to intensify her campaign schedule from an nearly incumbent-style public effort to a more aggressive approach.
“No”, Schlichter replied. “But I know of a president who, well, turned his intern into a humidor, so I think we set the standard a little lower than Donald Trump has even approached”. His bigotry, his bluster, his bullying have become his campaign.
Meanwhile, Trump being Trump, had to respond to Clinton’s statement. He took out after the mainstream media, and said: “Once again, #MSM is dishonest”. She narrowly tops Donald Trump within the poll’s margin of sampling error, 49% to 47%, in a hypothetical general election matchup. “‘Schlonged” is not vulgar”, he wrote. “When I said Hillary got “Scholonged” that meant beaten badly”.
Republican candidates were quick to defend Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly after Trump seemed to suggest that she had been unfairly tough on him during a debate because she was menstruating. And Trump has used the phrase in a political context once before – to talk about other women running for office. “Would anyone vote for that?” Trump’s campaign responded this week by insisting that as president, he wouldn’t kill journalists: “I hate some of these people, but I’d never kill them, “he said”.
Mr Trump has ridden out all the fury directed his way after previous outbursts.
“Polls show a majority of Americans believe that Mrs. Clinton is not trustworthy”, Conway said. I don’t wonder at all about what Clinton was doing, but I truly do wonder what is going on in Trump’s head.
In her first debate as a candidate for elective office in 2000, her Republican opponent Rick Lazio infamously walked across a debate stage, wagged his finger and demanded she sign a campaign finance pledge. The Sanders campaign believes victories in those two states would undercut Clinton’s strength and send him into the next contests – in Southern and Western states where he’s polling lower – with a boost of momentum. “Guess what?” she added, “It takes a girl longer to go to the bathroom because they can’t go standing up. It’s a reminder that she’s at her best and strongest when under attack”.
