Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Releases More Medical Details From Her Doctor
But the nonstop travel in 1998 took a toll. Her lab testing, the doctor added, was “normal”. She kept her condition a secret from almost everyone but her Secret Service detail, alerted only because an injury could have been life-threatening. “Her staff thought she had pulled a muscle exercising”. She also repeatedly sidestepped questions about when her running mate Tim Kaine was informed.
Jennifer Palmieri, Clinton’s communications director, said the candidate’s break from the campaign trail helped her “sharpen the final argument she will present to voters in these closing weeks”.
“These numbers suggest she’s a healthy 68-year-old woman with a very favorable cardiovascular risk profile”, said Dr. Mark Creager, director of the Dartmouth-Hitchkock heart and vascular center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and a past president of the American Heart Association. “You’re not going to change her at this point in her life”.
The new letter from Clinton’s doctor stated that a chest scan revealed she had “mild, non-contagious bacterial pneumonia”. Undoubtedly. But the more important question is whether she’d rather be in her position than Trump’s – and given the fundamentals, the answer is clear.
One attendee said that the two did not talk in any detail about Trump’s health. The incident has prompted further scrutiny of her health and her campaign’s transparency, and comes less than two months before Election Day and as polls show a tightening race. Clinton’s health information was previously released in July 2015.
Her supporters now are trying to turn the episode into a badge of honor – and a credential for the White House. The episode, caught on video, was attributed to dizziness and dehydration.
On Sept. 9 she was evaluated and found to have pneumonia, according to the physician. She began to feel dizzy and almost collapsed while getting into a Secret Service van, which took her to her daughter Chelsea’s apartment to rest. The Clinton campaign official said Bardack has since examined her several times, including on Wednesday, and the physician said Clinton “continues to improve”.
“My overall impression is that Mrs. Clinton has remained healthy and has not developed new medical conditions this year other than a sinus and ear infection and her recently diagnosed pneumonia”, Bardack wrote in a letter released to the media.
That infuriates Clinton’s friends and former aides, who cite dozens of stories about her simply refusing to take a sick day.
But on Thursday Mrs Clinton walked on to the stage of a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the sound of James Brown’s “I Feel Good”. “I’ve always seen her get up earlier and stay up later”.
She called the time away at her home in Chappaqua, New York “a gift” which had allowed her to reflect on the campaign. “I really, really, really want to elect Hillary Clinton”.
“I felt so badly”.
The letter from Clinton’s doctor made no mention of her weight, a key part of any medical exam, nor did a similar letter released previous year.
