Hillary Clinton talks feminism with Lena Dunham
“Yes, absolutely”, responded Clinton.
Election season is right around the corner which means all the candidates are ramping up their campaigns with advertisements.
In a clip of the interview Dunham provided to Politico, Clinton says she is “absolutely” a feminist, and defends the term, saying it only means that women seek equal treatment.
Dunham – the writer and star of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning HBO series Girls – is an ardent Clinton fan, and often posts pictures on her Instagram account to show her support of the Democratic frontrunner. I’m hoping that people will not be afraid to say, ‘That doesn’t mean you hate men.
Refinery29’s video and accompanying Q&A, “What Every Millennial Should Know About Hillary Clinton”, focused on sexual assault on college campuses, equal pay, confidence, and how women’s rights are as much about economics as they are about social progress. She dishes all about the topic during an interview with Lena Dunham for the actress’ new website, and also expresses her shock about females who say they aren’t on-board with feminism. The tweets range from supportive to outright insulting.
The former First Lady told Dunham the true meaning of the word needs to be spread. Moreover, while Christian conservative activist had his life and career dismantled (and rightly so) after it was revealed he had improperly touched his younger sisters as a minor, in her memoir Dunham bragged about doing unspeakable things to her younger sister.
Lena Dunham molested her own sister, and she falsely accused a man of rape. And presumably, Lena managed to keep her clothes on. Her social media response to the allegations was swift and angry, a reaction Dunham later referred to as a “rage spiral”.
“You are a woman with so many accomplishments and so many interests and you were uniting with someone who was clearly heading toward the public eye in such a specific way”, Dunham begins.
“First and foremost, I want to be very clear that I do not condone any kind of abuse under any circumstances”.
