Hillary Clinton to trash Donald Trump’s business record in Atlantic City
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton visited the famous boardwalk in Atlantic City on Wednesday to highlight Republican rival Donald Trump’s casino bankruptcies, warning he would bring the same cutthroat approach to managing the US economy.
Clinton is spending time in the city where Trump developed casinos in an effort to highlight what her aides are calling Trump’s “fraudulent business history”.
Clinton appeared in front of Boardwalk Hall, the city’s old convention center, and was introduced by a small business owner who the aide said was hurt by Trump’s business practices.
To the editor: This is to congratulate and thank The Times for exposing Donald Trump’s vicious and underhanded business practice of trying to discredit a potential competitor by falsely and maliciously accusing the St. Regis Mohawks tribe – which was trying to open a competing casino in NY state, not far from Trump’s operations in Atlantic City, N.J. – of drug trafficking.
“Many of those lawsuits were filed by ordinary Americans who worked for Donald Trump and never got paid”.
Following Clinton’s remarks, she briefly greeted striking casino workers at Trump Taj Mahal.
She added, “Trump economics is a recipe for lower wages, fewer jobs, more debt”.
The site of Clinton’s campaign event is located next door to the shuttered building that was once Trump Plaza, one of four casinos Trump owned during his 25-year tenure in Atlantic City, from 1984 to 2009.
But striking workers say their beef is with Icahn, not with the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.
“Well, I think you’re talking about the difference between running a private business and working in government”, Pierson responded.
The video, while not featuring Trump’s voice once, uses people stiffed by Trump in Atlantic City to make the case that the city “proves” he shouldn’t be president.
“And let’s not forget Donald Trump’s business record”, he added.
She was introduced in Atlantic City by a retired vice president of a glass company who says Trump owed his company almost $500,000 for work that they did on one of his hotels.
The Republican presidential candidate writes: “I made a lot of money in Atlantic City and left 7 years ago, great timing (as all know)”.
Clinton said Trump’s casino bankruptcies and numerous complaints against him by contractors showed he can not be trusted to set economic policy from the White House. During that pause, Sanders was booed, according to a Democrat who attended the session and spoke on condition of anonymity to freely discuss the meeting. But Comey rebuked her for what he said was “extremely careless” handling of classified material on her email servers, and contradicted her claims that she never transmitted or received classified material on that email system. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. speaks in Albany, N.Y. House Democrats are “anxious to know” when Sen. Her visit is planned for Wednesday. “Pols made big mistakes, now many bankruptcies”, Trump tweeted.
For Clinton, Atlantic City provided a picture-perfect backdrop to try to undermine that reputation.
Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union went on strike Friday against the Trump Taj Mahal casino, which bears the name of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee but now belongs to his friend Carl Icahn.
