Hillary Clinton urges Florida Democrats to vote – on the wrong day
The endorsement, first reported by Buzzfeed’s Adrian Carrasquillo, came before an upcoming Clinton event in Orlando, Florida, a region with a growing Puerto Rican and Latino electorate.
“I believe she’s the strongest and the best candidate and the person who can be a great leader for America”, Sink said of hosting the event for Clinton.
“Ninety Americans a day die from gun violence”, she said.
Nearly immediately after the shooting, which reportedly occurred at the Inland Regional Center, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) also called the shooting “horrifying” and slammed the National Rifle Association for lobbying against gun-control legislation. Democrats can not take for granted that voters will give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to campaign financing, says Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg.
The email, reported Monday by BuzzFeed, was sent to Sidney Blumenthal, a friend of the former secretary of state, and speculated on the 2012 Republican presidential contest.
And she cautioned against Republican suggestions that the states should be addressing infrastructure, saying, “Do you really want to put decisions for funding Florida’s infrastructure in the hands of [Gov.] Rick Scott?”
She never mentioned her Democratic primary rivals by name, but exhorted the crowd to vote.
Wednesday at a campaign rally she pleaded with her supporters to “Make sure you do vote on March the First”.
But making the case is complicated for Republican presidential contenders, who have all but abandoned the idea that their tax-cut proposals should be offset by other tax increases or spending cuts. Tuesday evening, Clinton appeared in Miami for two different fundraising events, according to The Tampa Bay Times. Florida will play a key factor in next years presidential race. The infrastructure plan, which supports an additional $225 billion in financing through the infrastructure bank, would result in up to $500 billion in critical infrastructure investments over the next five years. Clinton says the money would help rebuild and modernize Florida’s infrastructure, while in the process pointing out that some of the worse traffic bottlenecks in the country are right here in Florida.
The state’s diversity – something Hillary Clinton pointed to in her speech – also benefits Democrats and is one reason Clinton is dominating the primary here.
“So if we actually applied what our governor and our conservative policy here in Florida in Washington D.C., we would see a growth in our economy”, said Gaitan.
