Hillary Confronted at Town Hall Over ‘Disheartening’ Comment About Republican
Bernie Sanders, who signed his own paperwork here last Thursday.
While she said that the GOP sometimes viewed her the same way, Clinton said that she agreed with the woman and proceeded to note her previous efforts for bipartisanship. “I’ve supported a lot of Democrats over the years”. Im just proud to be a Democrat and Im proud that Ive worked so hard for the Democratic party.Sanders, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, filed paperwork in New Hampshire last week declaring that he was a Democrat. Seventy-four percent of voters say that she would do an “excellent or “good’ job handling the concerns of racial minorities, whereas only 51 percent of voters believe Sanders would do an “excellent” or “good” job at this”. “You won’t get me to talk about his taking any position that is a political position”.
Clinton took a similar message with her to a post-filing rally on the steps of the New Hampshire State House.
“There are opportunities that we are not seizing on behalf of communities and individuals and I don’t think there is any doubt that we have to do more to open doors”, Clinton said.
Reprising a line that has become a crowd favorite, Clinton said that Obama hasn’t received the “credit he deserves” for helping the nation emerge from a deep recession – and made a passing reference to the economic mantra of her husband, the former president, whose come-from-behind second-place finish in New Hampshire propelled his candidacy in 1992. Candidates have until November 20 to file for the primary, which is expected to be held February 9.
“How are you holding up”, she asked Gardner, a subtle acknowledgment of the craziness that had befallen his office.
She described herself as a “proud Democrat” who would protect Obama’s agenda and prevent Republicans from dismantling his signature health care law and guard against tax breaks that would benefit the wealthy. “I am back again and I intend to do everything I can to be successful this time”. Jeanne Shaheen’s husband; Tom Hassan, first gentleman of New Hampshire, and Terry Shumaker, a longtime Clinton adviser in the state.
Clinton’s major opponent for her party’s nomination, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
The most recent Monmouth University poll had Clinton up 3 percentage points in the state, a departure from the wide lead Sanders built over the summer. She picked up the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund at an event launching Environmentalists for Hillary in Nashua.
Clinton now has no plans to campaign Wednesday on Veterans Day, but General Wesley Clark, retired four-star General and former North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Supreme Allied Commander Europe, will headline four events for Clinton throughout Iowa. Sanders will address black voters during a campaign swing through SC this weekend, joining Clinton and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley at a forum on Friday night hosted by Rep. James Clyburn, a prominent black lawmaker.
