Hillary Rodham Clinton in a panic over Bernie Sanders Iowa poll lead
At first, the Granite State was firmly Clinton Country.
Sanders campaign shot back, citing Brock’s history as a conservative activist focused on attacking the Clintons before he became their ally, and saying Clinton should be “ashamed” of her association with him. At a rally on Thursday, she said that she was “not interested in ideas that sound good on paper but will never make it in the real world”. “If you nominate Trump or Cruz”, Graham told reporters, “I think you get the same outcome”.
The plan would cost $350 billion over 10 years, money that would be used to incent states to reinvest in their higher education institutions.
Hillary Clinton has questioned Bernie Sanders’ electability.
“I try not to pay too much attention to the polls, because right now they’re all over the place – some have us up, others have us down”, Clinton said in the fundraising email.
Clinton’s campaign had multiple cameras here and plan to turn part of the speech into an ad, according to aides.
During Sanders’ rise in the summer, Clinton’s campaign largely avoided criticizing Sanders out of fear that would alienate his liberal supporters who will be important to the Democratic nominee this fall. The ad, called “I’m with him”, features Clinton talking directly to the camera and telling voters she supports the Obama administration’s push to expand background checks and allow gun manufacturers to be held liable for gun deaths.
Bottom line: Bernie is probably not ahead by 27 points in New Hampshire – but he probably is ahead in New Hampshire.
“Bernie’s appeal is powerful and it resonates with a certain lane of the Democratic electorate for sure, young voters, independent voters”, said Steve McMahon, a Democratic strategist who advised Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign. The position, which came after considerable pressure from Clinton and her aides, is a reversal from statements Sanders and his aides have made throughout the campaign. The nominating contests start on February 1 in Iowa.
Iowa’s importance has only increased in recent days, given a string of polls that show Sanders leading in New Hampshire.
Clinton pitched her case for growing the nation’s economy, closing the income gap and lowering drug prices. Assuming O’Malley fails to gain enough support during the caucuses, his backers will be up for grabs by another candidate, according to the Times.
“I know what it is like to run from behind in New Hampshire and I know what it is like to come from behind and win in New Hampshire”, Clinton said, raising her voice at the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws’ Pro-Choice Roe v. Wade Dinner. “As president, I will fight to overturn it”, she said to the receptive audience.
