Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Leader Fayaz Ahmed Found Dead in J&K
Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen Saturday said that one of its militant commanders Fayaz Ahmed Bhat “attained martyrdom while fighting with Indian forces” in North Kashmir’s Tangmarg area.
Reports said that as the news about the killing of HM militant Fayaz Ahmed Bhat spread in North Kahsmir, scores of people from Pattan and Palhalan area took to streets and organized pro-freedom protests. According to police Fayaz was a militant commander associated with Hizb -ul-Mujahideen.
Panic gripped village Devbugh Kunzar area on Srinagar-Gulmarg road in Baramulla district when some people saw the body. “However, his other associates managed to escape from the spot”, he said.
The body has been taken by the police for the completion of formalities after which the body will be handed over to his family. The protesters clashed with police and attacked the deployment with stones, prompting police to burst tear gas shells.
The spokesperson added that Bhat had been active for the past six years and was a “member of the “Burhanuddin Sarhadi Squad” and had participated in various successful operations against the Indian army in border regions”.
It may be recalled that last week, three bullet-riddled bodies of youth were found in an apple orchard in Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
