The message was the latest in the flurry of behind-the-scenes lobbying since Pence withdrew from the governor’s race July 15 after the Republican Donald Trump plucked him to be his vice presidential running mate.

There had been some push back from the Secret Service, for whom Pence entered the protective bubble on Tuesday, and the Trump campaign, but the vice presidential nominee insisted he owed it to the delegation to say thanks.

When it comes to healthcare and more specifically the implementation of Obamacare, Pence reportedly took the money offered by the government for the program, but quickly attached all sorts of conservative principles that pave the way for poor recipients to be dropped from the program if they failed to pay certain premiums. Pence speaks cautiously in measured tones, a familiar trait in IN, where he serves as governor.
At the end of his speech, Trump joined Pence onstage, shook his hands, and gave the crowd a thumbs-up sign. But Pence’s name isn’t popular around the country, and Pence is clearly aware.
So not a ideal night for Mike Pence, but still a good one.
Finally Pence summed up Donald Trump as the best man for the White House in these turbulent times.
Alternative delegate John Wineke of Tennessee said he didn’t know about Pence prior to last week, but he loved hearing him speak. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., for president, said his wife correctly predicted that Trump would pick Pence, “a longtime family friend”. IN election law does not allow a candidate to be on the ballot for governor and vice president, leaving an open spot. “What a morning”, Pence said emotionally. Holcomb is one of four candidates in the running.
Pence also said he is ready to take on presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton by working side by side with Trump to study the Obama-Clinton agenda and point out ways to resolve the any issues they caused.
