Hold on tight! RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 lands on iOS
Meanwhile, the original developer of these games, Frontier, has decided to port the third game in the series, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, to iOS devices.
RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 brings all the fun of running your own rollercoaster park to iOS, with new touch-friendly controls and an all-new modernized user interface. The new mobile game costs just $4.99 up front and doesn’t come with any in-app purchases at all, meaning that you won’t have to bother with time-based upgrades that persuade you to spend real money in order to speed things up.
What’s even more shocking Is that it’s a Rollercoaster Tycoon game that manages to get mobile gaming right.
You can design your amusement park using five themes that are available: Generic, Spooky, Western, Adventure, and Sci-fi.
In scenarios, players are challenged to complete specific goals like achieving large numbers of park guests or achieving a high park value (as examples), while the sandbox mode takes away the goals and makes structures free, so players can simply create the park of their dreams. There are challenging objectives, changing weather patterns, and lovely vistas, sunsets, moonlight, and more. The Coaster Cam is in full effect, showing you every heart-pounding second of the rides you build and maintain.
Another difference between the two titles is, of course, the price. In RollerCoaster Tycoon 4, enjoying the game nearly requires spending a fortune on in-app purchases.
If you even remotely care about sending the message that fans want quality titles rather than cheap cash-ins, though, it’s worth it for that alone.
