Holiday gas prices at decade low
Low gas prices were driving more people to hit the road to reach their Thanksgiving celebrations, and airports were bustling Wednesday as travelers flying to meet family and friends braved long lines and fears about terrorism. Higher levels of throughput from refiners coming back online following both planned and unplanned maintenance in the Midwest has help to push prices lower following an increase due to unexpected outages.
The EIA’s latest short-term energy outlook projects a bottoming of gas prices to an average $2.06 a gallon in December and January of 2016, before increasing again to $2.09 in February.
Park Superintendent, Becky Bariola, said the 60-room Lodge at Mount Magazine State Park and the 13 guest cabins are completely booked for the four-day holiday weekend that begins tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day.
Clifton Istre said he does not remember the last time prices were down this much.
“Usually gas is on sale early in the week when demand is at its lowest”, he said.
Millions are set to travel over the next few days during the Thanksgiving holiday.
“The law is explicit”, the CHP said in a statement. And that’s not even the lowest of the low – The cheapest price that has been spotted in the last 24 hours is .76 in Champlin, Minn.
Steven Koval said, “It’s really insane out there, the traffic, everyone’s in a rush, you know it’s New Jersey driving”.

The Thanksgiving travel rush was underway Wednesday, as millions of Americans took planes, trains and automobiles to their holiday destinations.
“I had a lot of free time on my hands this afternoon”, said Poteet. She says she thinks about ISIS and terror attacks while riding the subway almost every day.
“It kind of seemed like weekend traffic a little bit”, he said. They also urged people who are picking up visitors at the airport to use the Cellphone Waiting Lot at 96th Street and Vicksburg to avoid circling the airport and adding to the congestion.
“Many more people will be traveling by auto, especially with the warnings that we’ve had for air travel and traveling to other counties”, says Pederson.
