Holloway Takes Interim Featherweight Title at UFC 206
Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is surrendering his assault on the featherweight division and heading back to fight at 155 pounds. “[Holloway’s] was a tough fight, but Pettis is in descending, so I was expecting that Holloway could win”. “But before this fight happened on Saturday, everybody, both of them knew that the victor would fight me on February 11th in Brooklyn”. Then he would beat Jose Aldo for the 145-pound title, which would lead to a big-money fight with megastar Conor McGregor.
‘It’s news to me, ‘ he told FoxSports. Sooo.advantage Aldo, I guess?
Max Holloway has his belt, and now he’s going on the hunt. “If that guy wants to fight me, he can come fight me”, Holloway said of McGregor.
Max Holloway continued his soaring career from a win over Anthony Pettis last Saturday night, stopping his opponent in the third round after a dominant display.
“I’m still champion. For me, it’s been a great year, I had a good win over Frankie Edgar and I’m where I always wanted to be, where I deserve to be, which is being champion”.
“Jose got knocked out, Conor was doing his thing chasing Jose around forever”. He got in there and stood with me and he got the (interim) belt. He wants to be a soccer player. “They’ve been sending me a bunch of times and my brain seems fine”. “His brain needs to be checked”.
Holloway is on top of his game right now and is not in the mood to be dictated to by Aldo. You have to talk to the UFC. “We’ll see what happens”.
Hawaii’s Max Holloway returned home Sunday as the interim UFC Featherweight Champion of the World.
The UFC tried to get Cris “Cyborg” Justino to fight for a new women’s featherweight championship in Brooklyn.
“That guy is insane. Well, I just bagged me a f**king lion”.
“I’m still at the point where I can improve”, Aubin-Mercier said. “We’ll see what happens”. Even without this setback, many believe Pettis would still not have been able to beat Holloway. The combination allowed the Hawaiian to tee off with a series of punches, forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight. I’m not trying to miss my son’s birthday, I ain’t about that life. “I’ll give it to you straight”. I fought and am used to training on New Year’s and Christmas. But when Dana calls me, I answer every damn time.
“Most true fans know the story”.
