Holly Holm Will Fight Before Her Rematch With Ronda Rousey
It appears Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s bantamweight champ Holly Holm will get her wish of fighting sooner than UFC 200 in July.
As for an opponent, well, you’d figure that Miesha Tate, who has been victorious in her last four fights, would get yet another shot at the belt after she was unsuccessful twice in trying to defeat Rousey.
As reported by the Los Angeles Times, speaking about Holm’s next match, White said, “I honestly don’t know what we’re going to do”.
Meanwhile, White confirmed that Rousey will be back in action this year, but stopped short of narrowing down when the 28-year-old could possibly make her comeback, despite reports of a comeback in July.
Rousey has parlayed her star status into a number of movie roles, including “Furious 7” and “Entourage” and will be seen next in “Road House”.
She will become the first MMA fighter and just the third fighter to host the show, following ex-boxing middleweight champion Marvelous Marvin Hagler and former undisputed heavyweight champion George Foreman. She is still recovering from her injuries sustained against the fight with Holm, but she has a very busy schedule.
Whatever the reason may be for White’s change of plans for Holm, fans will have to wait a little longer to witness one of the most anticipated rematches in MMA history. “I think people are curious to see how it will go because this is a whole new title fight now”.
Holly Holm is beginning to wonder whether her biggest payday ever will even materialize. She appeared on late-night talk shows, numerous magazine covers and is one of two cover athletes on the UFC’s upcoming video game.
Rousey, for her part, hasn’t said much about a rematch with Holm since November.
Tune into NBC on January 23 to catch Selena Gomez and Ronda Rousey on Saturday Night Live.
