Hollywood Couple Announce Split After Ten-Year Marriage

The couple, who share three children together and celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary Monday, issued a joint statement to People magazine on Tuesday to confirm the news.

“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the hard decision to divorce,” they said.

The two further added that this will be the only comment on their family’s private affair and thanked the public for understanding the tough times they are going through.

David and Lara have a son together and were said to be devastated that they could not make their five-year marriage work.

Apparently they do not have a prenup, but it does not make much of a difference because they’re both millionaires, according to TMZ.

“If I have time, I try to spend time with the kids, even if just to be a physical presence, the bath, whatever”.

The couple had been dogged by rumors of a split for weeks, with one source telling United States Weekly that the marriage has, “had problems from the very beginning”, and naming Affleck’s “workaholic” tendencies and other “vices” as part of the reason for the strain.

However insiders recently told TMZ that this might not be the case and that Jennifer doesn’t need any financial support.

The couple reportedly worked out a system in which they took turns making movies. Affleck often credited Garner with helping to stabilize his life after his film career hit the skids and he became tabloid fodder during his romance with Jennifer Lopez, from whom he spit in 2004.

Last September, the actor and director slammed speculation that his marriage was on the rocks.

He told Details magazine a year earlier that his wife was “patient” with his workaholic tendencies.
