Home Entertainment Movie Preview: The Peanuts Movie – Charles Schulz’s Beloved
That brings us to The Peanuts Movie, which is timed to honor the 65th anniversary of the introduction of Schulz’s famed comic strip and the 50th anniversary of its first TV special, A Charlie Brown Christmas. For longtime fans of Charlie Brown who want to relive their cherished childhood memories of the Peanuts gang or who want to share them with their children or grandchildren, “The Peanuts Movie” is the flawless opportunity to discover an old friend in a shiny new 21st-century presentation that will still feel like home. “The first year and a half was just trying to make Charlie Brown look like Charlie Brown”. Schroeder still plays a mean piano, Linus still won’t give up his blanket, Lucy still picks on Charlie, Pig-Pen still stinks and Snoopy and Woodstock still don’t think the rules apply to them. It’s hard not to feel like this is a cash grab for a group of fans that grew up with the strip, and an awkwardly executed one at that. How many live-action films about relationships this year can lay claim to the same heartfelt traits? “Charlie Brown, the world’s most beloved underdog, embarks upon an epic and heroic quest, while his best pal, the lovable beagle Snoopy, takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron”. The overall melancholy tone is also in line with the original toons, capturing the angst and nearly divine mockery poor Charlie Brown faces on a daily basis. The central concepts (be honest; be yourself; do your best) are as gentle as the curves of Charlie Brown’s silhouette.
Movie experts review “The Peanuts Movie” after its initial release in theaters.
Are you looking for a movie to see this weekend? It’s OK to fail, and everything will work out, as long as you get back up.
Craig Schulz, son of “Peanuts” comic strip creator Charles M. Schulz, listened to a lot of children before found the voices for “The Peanuts Movie”.
“People tell me that my dad would be so proud of this film”, he says. The cartoonist’s heirs are heavily involved in this new computer-animated effort, so just about all of Schulz’s most popular tropes have made it into the final cut.
The voices of the Peanuts gang are provided by a cast that includes: Noah Schnapp, Bill Melendez, Francesca Capaldi, Hadley Belle Miller, Mariel Sheets, Venus Schultheis, Noah Johnston, Rebecca Bloom, Marleik “Mar Mar’ Walker, AJ Teece, and Alexander Garfin“.
The Peanuts Movie does a solid job of indulging Chuck’s haplessness, while offering the requisite rays of hope.
To celebrate the launch of The Peanuts Movie on Friday, a family-friendly holiday experience featuring the iconic Charles Schulz characters will be offered at The Mall at Short Hills from November 6 to December 24.
A spirit that remains intact, and still lovably insecure, even in spectacular 3D. He quickly develops a crush but is afraid to approach her. Instead he goes through a series of typical Charlie Brown humiliations to try to get her attention.
