Home explosion rocks Taunton neighborhood
A Taunton home burned down but luckily the inhabitant survived.
It was a sad day for Taunton woman, although she escaped unhurt, same could not be said of her house as an explosion that happened late Sunday afternoon razed her house down. By the time fire crews arrived, the home was completely engulfed in flames.
Authorities say a Massachusetts woman is lucky to be alive after her home exploded and burst into flames.
Saltalmacchia said he, along with his son and a friend, comforted the distraught woman, bringing her a pair of sandals to protect her feet and giving her water. Neighbors said the homeowner may have been in her basement fixing her furnace. When he ran outside he could see flames shooting out of the window of the home.
Witnesses said they heard a huge explosion and saw the home on fire when they went outside.

When Saltalmacchia asked Beliveau if she had lost any pets in the fire, she said that she lost her cockatoo bird.
“It’s being investigated as a possible gas explosion”, said Capt. Todd Myers of the Taunton Fire Department. Arson investigators have been called to the scene to try and determine a cause.
