Homeland Security Defends US Refugee Security Vetting
Obama has vowed to veto it.
That’s Patricia Ice is an immigration attorney with the Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance. Besides this, some Syrian refugees are Christians who obviously have no sympathy for the Islamic state.
“Thus, it is not permissible to deny federally funded benefits such as Medicaid or TANF to refugees who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements”.
If a terrorist wanted to get into the US, they would find a way, and probably the easiest way. And that’s why Hurd and his colleagues are concerned with the political movement to restrict Syrian refugees.
The letter echoes prior rhetoric by the Obama administration, which has said states have more of a “consultative role”. The United States can continue to welcome refugees while also continuing to ensure national security.
Since the attacks in Paris, many have asked about our process for admitting Syrian refugees into this country. “Well, that made me feel good”.
“Our multi-agency system for vetting refugees is strong, and it has been significantly enhanced over the past few years”, wrote Secretary of State John Kerry and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson in a letter to Governor Abbot obtained by Breitbart Texas.
“The ultimate terrorism is getting people afraid to go about their daily lives”, Blunt says.
Hurd said our vetting process is extremely thorough and safe. And so again, it’s heavy migrant flows, and frankly they’re mixed flows, some of them are refugees and some are migrants into Europe. They have a background check. These families have not only lost their homes, but also their closest family members; they have suffered lifelong injuries and near-death experiences, and witnessed the unimaginable horrors of torture at the hands of the Syrian government and Daesh (or “ISIS”). “As a great nation, the United States must show leadership during this crisis and bring nations together to protect those in danger and bring an end to the conflicts in the Middle East”.
The refugee screening process, according to CNN, is the most rigorous process to enter the United States. Yet, Syrian refugees, 75 percent of whom are women and children, are now being demonized as potential terrorists. A spokesman for Abbott declined to comment. The U.S. government thoroughly screens refugees before they are admitted to the U.S., using an intense, deliberate process. “It’s not even close”.
As The New York Times noted just before Thanksgiving previous year, “congressional leaders were privately relieved that many Republicans had left Washington for the Thanksgiving holiday before Mr. Obama announced plans for his address, reducing the availability of anti-immigration conservatives for cable-television bookers seeking reactions”. It would require the heads of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Department and the director of national intelligence to certify to Congress that each refugee “is not a threat to the security to the United States”. That is probably the more recent example of a new check, but I can assure you that check has been refined since 2007 and we continue to look at additional measures that we can take.
