Homeland, The Affair Renewed by Showtime
The pickups were expected, as the dramas rank as the top two highest-rated premium cable series for this quarter, in addition to bringing much critical acclaim and award recognition to Showtime. The announcement of a sixth season came hours after Homeland was nominated for three SAG Awards, including best drama series and a best actress nod for Claire Danes.
Homeland follows intelligence officer Carrie Mathison (Danes) as she explores and is eventually caught in a world of espionage and deception. The news is no surprise, as both series have shown strong numbers on their returns to television this season. In Live +3 for the previous week, “Homeland” pulled in a 0.8 and 2.38 million people, and “The Affair” scored a 0.5 and 1.42 million.
In the meantime, see how both Homeland and The Affair play out in their final two episodes of 2015, and stay tuned for the latest updates on Season 6 and Season 3.
“The Affair”, starring Wilson, West, Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson, was created by Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi who serve as exec producers with Anya Epstein and director Jeffrey Reiner. The Golden Globe-winning The Affairs has been softer, most recently logging a 1.4 million viewers.
