Honda recalling 341000 Accords for airbags
The NHTSA said tens of millions of other vehicles with Takata airbags will likely need to be recalled eventually. The recall will affect a total of 2.23 million units fo Honda and Acura model. Honda said it was aware of two injuries linked to the problem. Faulty Takata air bags are prone to explosion when there is too much force during a collision. In some vehicles, the air bags can inadvertently deploy, increasing the risk… At least this time the airbags won’t shoot razor sharp shrapnel at drivers, but it’s a serious problem that everyone needs to know about.

Fiat Chrysler, American Honda Motor Co., and Mercedes-Benz already have issued some recalls.
A driver in Belleview, Florida, was injured when his auto hit a concrete wall at 50 miles per hour and the air bags didn’t inflate, according to a complaint filed with the agency.
Honda said repairs and replacement for faulty parts will not be available until fall. Nine of those deaths were in Honda vehicles.

If an indicator light related to the restraint system is illuminated, the vehicle should be taken to the dealership for a diagnostic check, the company said.
Honda has issued two recalls affecting airbags on more than 2.5 million vehicles in the U.S. Pay attention, because this may be a little confusing.
Last year, Mercedes recalled 126,260 C-Series cars from 2008 and 2009 and 2010 GLK350 vehicles because of the problem.
All told, the problem with Takata airbag inflators will have forced Honda and its Acura luxury brand to recall 8.51 million vehicles, more than any other manufacturer. Honda’s latest recall is included in that count.
The second airbag defect being faced by Honda is situated in the airbag control units.
The Takata recall has typically focused on older vehicles, but today’s expansion includes many recent and current models. It’s the largest automotive recall in US history.
Replacement inflators will be sent to high-humidity areas along the U.S. Gulf Coast first, then to the rest of the country.
The recall is unrelated to a separate one involving airbags made by Takata Corp.
