Hospital Confirms Chris Mintz Released
Mintz is the Army veteran and part-time student who tried to block the gunman from entering the classroom and was shot at least five times, the AP reported previously. His actions of charging the shooter have been credited for saving the lives of many other students as he blocked the door to a classroom.
Mintz has been seen smiling in every single picture that has been released from his hospital room (including this one where he’s obviously loving a few chocolate milk), but he’s going to have a long road to recovery, his family said. A gunman shot and killed 10 people while injuring numerous others.
“During the shooting both of his legs were broken and he is going to have to go through a ton of physical therapy”.
That fateful day was also Chris’s son, Tyrek’s birthday. Then shocked that a small town kid was involved, but not surprised on Chris Mintz’s reaction.
Grant said she got goosebumps when she heard the news that Chris was being released Thursday.
Nearly 24,000 strangers have donated almost $800,000 hoping to help Chris Mintz learn to walk again.
Earlier this week the family of 30-year-old Mintz set up a GoFundMe account to assist with medical bills and child care for his 6-year-old son.
