Hospital makes special arrangement to reunite married couple of 68 years
Their heartwarming story was shared to the hospital’s Facebook page and has since gone viral with over 2,000 shares.
“Fayetteville residents Tom and Arnisteen Clark have been married for 68 years”. They made arrangements for Tom to come visit his wife and sit at her beside every single day for several hours while he continued to receive his own treatment.
The last time they parted for any extended time was when the Army stationed Clark in Korea. Despite their individual complications, being apart is what they couldn’t suffer.
According to ABC News, the two had both been admitted to the orthopedic surgical floor, but in separate rooms. Even the hospital staff could not see their condition.
“I just can’t be away from her”, Tom told reporters. Arnisteen, 92, and Tom are scheduled to be released Friday and moved to a rehab facility. Under the tears Tom added he couldn’t bear to be away from her. “Because they were on the orthopedic surgical floor, none of those rooms have double occupancy so they couldn’t be together, and it was clearly breaking their hearts”. Then he reportedly wept with joy and called her “the finest woman in the world”.
Doctors and nurses said they expect both to make a full recovery soon, so they can continue to enjoy many more years together.
