Hot-shooting Grizzlies down Timberwolves
Mike Conley contributed 20 points (7-14 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), seven assists, and two steals in 33 minutes during the Memphis Grizzlies ‘ 114-106 win versus the Wolves on Sunday.
The Minnesota Timberwolves welcome the Memphis Grizzlies in a clash where both teams will be looking to notch their fifth win of the season.
It wasn’t that long ago that #1 overall pick and current Minnesota Timberwolves sensation, Karl-Anthony Towns was a fan just like you and me.
Towns, who is averaging 16.1 points and 10.5 rebounds a game this season, will get his first chance to play against one of his basketball idols on January 12, when the Minnesota Timberwovles travels to Oklahoma City.
The Wolves are 0-5 so far at home this season, and have lost their fourth straight game. Rubio played in just 22 games last season because of an ankle injury…. In a show of support for the people of France after Friday’s deadly terrorist attacks in Paris, the French National Anthem was played at Target Center prior to the game…. Garnett joined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Jason Kidd and Elvin Hayes.
He also did a good job on LaVine, who despite scoring 25 points only had three assists and committed five fouls, and outside of a hot streak in the third quarter didn’t do a ton until garbage time to close out the game. Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger said Chalmers role will continue to expand, as well.
Second-year guard Zach LaVine has been starting at point guard in Rubio’s place, but the Wolves sorely miss their veteran starter’s ability to organize the offense and provide a strong presence on the defensive end.
