House Dems Send Letter to Trump Asking Him to Replace Bannon
A number of USA cities on Wednesday witnessed protest against Tuesday’s presidential election result.
The political power-player and Navy veteran told THR’s Michael Wolff from Trump Tower in NY that critics who demonize his nationalist movement are making the same mistake Democrat Hillary Clinton’s campaign did before a defeat on Election Day.
“Mr. Bannon guided Breitbart away from more mainstream conservative opinion to instead traffic in an ideology of racism, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia, and anti-Semitism”, Franken said. Some groups are even calling for Bannon to get booted out.
Representatives Marcy Kaptur of Toledo, Marcia Fudge of Warrensville Heights, Tim Ryan of the Niles area, and Joyce Beatty of the Columbus area were among 169 Democrats who signed a letter on Wednesday that urges Trump to get rid of Bannon. No Republicans have signed the letter.
Bannon insisted during the interview in Trump Tower in Manhattan that he is not a racist, but a nationalist compelled to return America’s working class to prominence in a rapidly changing and modernizing world.
“These are not just words”, said the daughter of Jamaican immigrants, adding that reports from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) “demonstrate that hate crimes have already increased dramatically since Election Day – including a swastika recently painted on the sidewalk in Crown Heights”.
Republicans urged the American public to give Trump an opportunity to lead while expressing confidence that the real estate mogul’s divisive campaign rhetoric was a tool of the past.
The appointment of Steve Bannon was announced at the same time as Reince Priebus was announced as the next White House chief of staff, and while Republicans praised the decision to appoint Priebus, they were mostly silent on Bannon, saying that they are not familiar with anything controversial he has said or done.
“I think you agree with that”, Trump said.
“We have a responsibility to prevent Trump’s bullying and aggressive behavior from becoming normalized in the eyes of America”, said Reid, who is retiring at the end of the year.
Not all Democrats have been willing to criticize Trump for his pick of Bannon.

For their part, some Democrats seem conciliatory and are seeking ways to join Trump rather than oppose him. “I don’t like them and they don’t like me and I’m glad”.
“Let me simply say it is time to do a major speech to reject this kind of hatred, this kind of rejection of the American people”.
When asked if these types of appointments give her pause, Adams said, “It’s very frightening, numerous folks that I talk to, many constituents are very concerned, they’re afraid and it doesn’t appear that not only will we not have a smooth transition, but I don’t think that this is the way to move our country forward”.
