House explosion rocks seismometers across Puget Sound
The home exploded Tuesday morning in Port Orchard, about 15 miles west of Seattle.
The force of the explosion shattered windows at Mullenix Ridge Elementary, which borders the residential property, Wilson said.
It is unknown what caused the explosion. However, sheriff’s detectives requested assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for the investigation. “It’s turned into popsicle sticks as to be expected with an explosion of this nature versus one that may have occurred with a traditional stick-built house or one with brick and mortar”, said Deputy Scott Wilson, Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say two people are dead following a powerful explosion that leveled a home in Western Washington.

KIRO 7 Facebook users across Kitsap County and beyond have been posting descriptions of what they felt.
