House GOP leader predicts Rubio, Cruz will rise
Donald Trump is again the solid front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, but Florida Sen.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton widened her lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders nationally, 60 percent to 30 percent, a seven-point improvement for Clinton since last month. Sixty-six percent of Republican voters view the Florida senator favorably, with only 8 percent having an unfavorable impression.
Leading Carson 47 – 41 percent.
With fresh evidence that billionaire Donald Trump continues to dominate the GOP presidential polls, the second and third-tier candidates are beginning to sharpen their messages – and turn on one-another – in a mad scramble to improve their standings before the early 2016 primary contests.
Ben Carson also polls 16%.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump continues to lead the field nationally.
Clinton remains the most likely Democratic nominee, and despite her negative favorability ratings, she can easily beat any of the Republican nominees in a general election. Rubio is now doing 10 points better, and Cruz 9 points better, than in August.
And Clinton’s lead over GOP challengers has picked up from the previous poll. This means that Cruz and Rubio are effectively tied and both gunning for the important 20% threshold. Trump is not honest and trustworthy, voters say 59 – 35 percent.
Sanders gets the best honesty grades among the top candidates. A poll by the same company last month had Carson in second place on 23%. Rubio is moving in the right direction (up three points from last month, to 17 percent), as is Cruz (up three points).
Dig deeper into the findings and things look even better for the senator from Texas. Ted Cruz at 16 percent each.
In a national Quinnipiac poll released a month ago, Trump and Carson were in a virtual tie. The beneficiaries of Carson’s fall are Cruz and Rubio.
The main challenge for Rubio will be to pick up a part of Trump’s and Carson’s moderates and “somewhat conservative” voters, while Cruz will have to gun for their very conservative, Tea Party and evangelical supporters.
Marco Rubio jumped to second place in the latest poll, with 17% support, marking a jump up three percentage points since the last survey. She came out on top against Rubio, 45 percent to 44 percent, tops Cruz 47 percent to 42 percent and led Carson 46 percent to 43 percent. What’s more, the bombastic Trump, who recently mocked a respected New York Times reporter who has a congenital physical disability, tops the list when Republican voters are asked to say whom they “definitely” will not support.
“Those supporters who support [Trump] will support him through and through”.
