Houston RB Arian Foster out for the season
Houston Texans running back Arian Foster will be out for the rest of the season after suffering an injury in Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
Foster, 29, is the all-time leader in rushing yards and touchdowns for the Texans by a significant margin after first joining the team in 2009 as an undrafted free agent who spent most of his rookie year on the practice squad. Foster, a top five RB when healthy, will miss the remainder of the season and may not suit up for the Texans ever again.
“I feel awful for him”. That’s all I can tell you.
Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue to replace Arian Foster.
Polk was signed in the off-season to make up for the fact that Blue doesn’t have the receiving chops that Foster does, but even the sum of those parts don’t total one Arian Foster.
The possibility of the 29-year-old running back’s final game as a member of the Texans was also considered by a separate report from ESPN. The addition of young talent is a must for the team and keeping Foster for $6.5 million in 2016 might not be considered worth it for the team.
In the four games Foster was able to play in this season, Foster rushed for 163 yards and one touchdown on 63 carries. The duo has been inconsistent thus far this season, averaging 3.9 and 3.4 yards/per carry, respectively.
Head coach Bill O’Brien didn’t specifically confirm that the injury was a torn Achilles but rather just that Foster would be done for the year, but it has been widely reported (including by the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain) that it’s an Achilles.
