Houston Rockets dismiss head coach Kevin McHale
The Rockets reached the Western Conference final last season, and while sacking McHale seemed like panic to some in the league, general manager Daryl Morey said the fierce competition in the West forced his hand.
However, after a 4-7 start to the new season which included four blowout losses, the Rockets have made a significant change.
“I was extremely surprised that McHale was let go”, Carlisle said before Wednesday’s game. I think you just watch our team play and its not that hard (to see), Morey said.
Unfortunately, we only got three rounds of Lynn’s assault of the Rockets as she soon deleted her Twitter account.
The 57-year-old mentor had signed a three-year, $12 million contract extension with the Rockets in December 2014, but as things have turned out, this was his last season with the franchise.
HOUSTON Six months ago, Kevin McHale coached the Houston Rockets to the Western Conference finals for the first time in 18 years.
Harden finished with 45 points and 11 assists plus eight rebounds and five steals. In his first game at the helm, the Rockets defeated the Portland Trail Blazers in overtime due in large part to a prayer three-pointer Corey Brewer hit at the buzzer.
The team had a players-only meeting on Tuesday, and All-Star guard James Harden told reporters, “It was a good talk for us”.
With Kevin McHale having been fired, Tom Thibodeau’s name has come up as a potential long-term answer in Houston.
San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich questioned the Rockets’ decision.
“He’s one of the best human beings I ever met, so I feel bad for him”.
But in the hours and days that led to McHale getting fired, there was also a players meeting, players-only meeting.
J.B. Bickerstaff will become interim head coach, and assistant Chris Finch will become associate head coach.
McHale was hired on June 1, 2011, to take over for Rick Adelman, who had spent four years with the team. At the beginning of the current season, the Rockets organization appeared to be oblivious to any Basedgod Curse and rolled out the release of Harden bobblehead dolls with Harden doing said cooking dance.
