Houston Rockets fire Kevin McHale
Kevin McHale was sacked this week by the Houston Rockets.
General manager Daryl Morey struck the same tone, according to Kristie Rieken of The Associated Press: “The team was not responding to Kevin McHale and we had to make the tough call”. Interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff, son of longtime National Basketball Association coach Bernie Bickerstaff, served in his first game as head coach.
McHale had a record of 193-130 for.568per cent, much better than a few of the other head coaches around the league. Franchise player James Harden is averaging 27.3 points per game but shoots at an inefficient clip at 37.2% from the field and 26.2% from the three-point area, both down from last year’s numbers when he was an MVP candidate. The Rockets need another superstar who can dominate the offense, and with Durant headed to free agency in 2016 it is not wonder why the Rockets are the front runners for his services.
Unfortunately, we only got three rounds of Lynn’s assault of the Rockets as she soon deleted her Twitter account.
The Rockets opened the season with three straight losses, won four in a row and are now in a four-game skid.
Guard James Harden posted a double-double as the Houston Rockets rallied from a 17-point deficit to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 108-103 in overtime on Wednesday night at Toyota Center. J.B. Bickerstaff has been tabbed as the interim head coach. “The team was not responding to Kevin”, he said.
“I felt like I was talking to an actual player, ” Harden said in May. They’ve been playing well as of late but, as we’ve seen so far this season, the middle class of the Eastern Conference is crowded.
The Rockets have not scored more than 100 points during their four-game losing streak and were clearly in disarray.
The Rockets advanced to last year’s Western Conference Finals but were a disappointing 4-7 this season.
“I’ve always tried to get Kevin to come work with me and work with my big guys”, Ainge said. The Rockets lost in the first round of the playoffs that season, improved again in 2014 and returned to the postseason only to be eliminated in the first round again.
However, who should really take the blame for the Houston Rockets’ slump? Friday against the Memphis Grizzles will give us a better idea of what exactly is going on, but for now proceed with caution.
Thunder 110, Pelicans 103: Russell Westbrook had 43 points, nine rebounds and eight assists for host Oklahoma City.
