Houston’s Hoyer suffers second concussion in a month
Hoyer was sacked five times Sunday night and met with the training staff on the sideline several times.
The Colts aren’t optimistic that Andrew Luck (lacerated kidney) will be ready to play this week, but coach Chuck Pagano told reporters Wednesday (via the Houston Chronicle) that he expects Matt Hasselbeck, 40, who has been out with shoulder and neck injuries, to play Sunday. Yates, who started in Week 11 when Hoyer was out with a concussion, replaced Hoyer under center.
In the Texans’ 10-6 Week 10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals last November 13, Hoyer also suffered a concussion which, according to ESPN, gave him memory loss as he also forgot all their plays. “I think we have a good guy there to step in because he’s a pro and he’s got really good poise”.
The Texans will play the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday starting at noon.
Andy Dalton won’t need surgery on his broken thumb and could play again this season.
“You have to follow the standards and let (independent National Football League neurologists) make the right decision”. Earlier this season, Hoyer didn’t get the start against the Colts but entered the game midway through, helping to lead Houston back. Against the Jets, Yates completed 16 of 34 passes for 229 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions for an 89.0 passer rating. “He prepares like he is the starter”.
If he can’t go against Indianapolis, the Texans will look to T.J.
Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer is dealing with his second concussion in less than a month, something that’s reportedly left him concerned about the impact on his long-term health. Tight end Ryan Griffin dropped passes and had one catch for 20 yards on six targets.
Yates completed 1 of 2 passes for 4 yards against New England.
