How Ariana Grande Ended Up on “Scream Queens”
The sorority runs afoul of new dean of students Cathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis, getting back to her horror roots) who forces Kappa to accept any pledges who apply or else they will lose their charter.
Ultimately, with its ceaseless meanness and barrage of put-downs, Scream Queens is more exhausting than exhilarating. The actress let out a loud scream before exclaiming, “That’s it!” Of course, she bleeds out and the baby survives, and every ’80s horror slasher is born! Oliver Hudson as Wes Gardner; Grace’s father; a professor at Wallace University.
As the pledges begin to learn what it takes to be a Kappa, the body count rises.
Curtis has just wrapped up a Fox-sponsored Q&A panel for the Television Critics Association with the series creators and her SCREAM QUEENS cast mates, including Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Skyler Samuels, Abigail Breslin, Nasim Pedrad, Diego Boneta and Niecy Nash. In the middle of the night, the Red Devil fires up the lawn mower and proceeds to ride over Deaf Taylor Swift. Why would such an elite sorority allow such undesirables into their house, you may ponder? She buries the pledges up to their necks on the front lawn of the house.
“Murphy knows what he’s doing; not only is Curtis as good a get as there is to be got, she is absolutely the best thing about the new Fox series, which attempts a post-modern riff on the genre her screams begat”.
Fast forward to the present day, when Chanel Oberlin rules Kappa with an iron fist (a somewhat new development after the former president was forced to leave under mysterious circumstances). Chad Michael Murray as Brad Radwell, Chad’s older brother and an employee at Endeavour. The writers must’ve brainstormed the jockiest sounding name in the world for that character. Later, she goes to apologize and finds him cuddling with his gay roommate, Boone (Jonas). Who knows? We don’t know where this is going to go. Ryan Murphy claims he wouldn’t have made Scream Queens if Jamie Lee Curtis hadn’t agreed to do the show. See: “Glee”, “American Horror Story“, “Nip/Tuck“. “Throughout the years, however many years ago now, I really believe it’s helped me get to where I am today – writing down my goals, writing down my dreams and making them happen”. The dark secret is revealed in an opening flashback to a rockin” “90s party at Kappa Kappa Tau, along with all the necessary character types, mainly a pretty blond Queen Bee and her posse – one or two of whom might want to do the right thing but are cowed into complicity.
It shifts gears quickly and unpredictably from creepy-lite death scenes to comedic moments that would nearly have been at home in the parodic “Scary Movie” franchise.
Chestnut jokes that Harthan’s just being politically correct and that it’s now the practice to give characters serious illnesses in case there’s a reason to get rid of the actor. I understand that it is a point of view from Dean Munsch and not necessarily my own, but I think it speaks to something that is a question mark for a lot of people.
The killer is really cool. “And you’re going to love it”. A masked red devil can actually walk around campus without anyone turning a head.
