How is this furry, bunny-looking slug even real?
Case in point: Jorunna parva, the fluffy bunny of the sea. These plumes are actually how the slugs breathe.
Its rabbit-like “ears” are no doubt a big part of its appeal, which make it look like a “fluffy bunny of the sea” according to the Huffington Post or a “gooey, candy” treat, The Verge says. They even have tails.
The Jorunna genus of sea creatures can be found in the Pacific Ocean, and it was Japan where the slugs were rediscovered and got their share of attention.
Check out the photo gallery below if you think we’re talking nonsense and that slugs could never be cute enough to be mistaken for bunnies. Their head is featured with two bunny-like ears that allow Parvas to better smell the objects around them and, thus, to protect themselves against noxious elements.
Congratulations: You have just surpassed your daily quota of cute. Thus, the slugs rely on them to sniff out the environment around them and detect the presence of various chemicals. And they can retract their rhinophores into their skin, to protect them from being nibbled by fish.
