How Ivanka Trump Could Prove To Be Her Father’s Most Powerful Weapon
Ivanka Trump became her father Donald Trump’s ambassador to women Thursday night when she sought to introduce a Republican presidential nominee who prioritizes equal pay and affordable child care.
Donald Trump accepted the Republican nomination for president at the party’s convention on Thursday night, but it was his daughter Ivanka who stole the show. She touted her father’s real estate accomplishments before adding that he believes in “equal pay for equal work”. “He will work for equal pay for equal work, and I will fight for it too right alongside of him”.
The Boston Globe reported in June that men working on Trump’s campaign make about one-third more than the women, while presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has paid men and women on her campaign more equally. So I think that she would probably say the same about her mother, so she’s probably very proud of her mother, and we certainly would share that, I would think.
Introducing her dad at the Republican National Convention – her biggest stage yet – Ivanka, 34, praised Trump’s business sense and ability to “see potential in others”, and she offered personal anecdotes about his character as a father.
Now let’s look at equal pay – an issue that is not only central to the issue of women’s equality generally, but also to the economic health of families around the country, as women are primary breadwinners in 40 percent of all American households, as Ivanka herself pointed out.
As for Donald’s role in his company, “he is more of a figure head while Ivanka already does much of the actual day to day work running the family businesses”.
She started a “Donald Trump” chant in the crowd later, saying “This is the moment and Donald Trump is the person to make America great again!”
Her ensemble was “modern, feminine and handsome”, said Peter Marx, president of the Washington, D.C.-area luxury women’s fashion shop Saks Jandel.
In a crude joke, Donald Trump famously said that he would date his daughter Ivanka if they were not related. It was actually Ivanka who suggested her father run for office! “So we still make it hard on women to go into the work force and feel that they can be good at work but then doing the most important job, which is raising your children in a responsible and positive way”.
She said with Donald Trump as president, the US would have a fighter with a record of achievements in hits corner. And, I suspect, she doesn’t agree with her father on those issues. “By now it’s clear I think the voters don’t seem to mind”.
The reason why you don’t hear her say those things is because she’s a smart businesswoman.
