How many people watched Super Bowl 50?
Released by CBS, the Super Bowl was also much discussed on social networks, especially on Twitter, where 16.9 million messages referring to “Super Bowl 50” were posted 3.8 million accounts. NEW YORK ” Setting television viewership records with the Super Bowl has become nearly routine, but this year’s average of 111.9 million viewers for Denver’s victory over Carolina is down from the past two years.
The 2016 figures do not include audience numbers for people who watched the game online, many of them for free over Internet devices like Apple TV and Roku.
What else can YouTube tells us?
An average of 21.12 million viewers watched the episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” that immediately followed CBS’ postgame coverage. The ads and teasers have been watched over 330 million times, with 60 percent of that coming from mobile devices, YouTube also said, adding that’s the first time the majority of views have happened on mobile.
Facebook on the other hand reported last year’s Super Bowl was more popular than this year’s on its social media platform. This was not enough to beat 2015’s match-up between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. The previous record was 164.1 million for Super Bowl XLVII between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers in 2013 on CBS.
