How Microsoft imagines you’ll watch football games with HoloLens
Microsoft has this week released a new promotional video for its augmented reality Hololens headset, that is still in the early stages of development and was unveiled a year ago. Microsoft wants to use the HoloLens to give football fans an entirely new world of interactivity with the game. With Microsoft’s HoloLens, game day is no longer confined to one’s television screen, with 3D holograms of matches covering your entire room! In addition to being able to watch the game on a much bigger screen, you can get player or game stats with a simple gesture.
In a blog post written by Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Windows and Devices Group, Microsoft and National Football League are presently looking into how technology could revolutionize the Super Bowl in the next 50 years – and met at a panel discussion to thrash out issues on this futuristic idea.
Have you resigned to the fact that in the future, you’ll be required to strap on a headset or facemask of some kind just to enjoy basic entertainment?
In the concept video, a variety of mixed-reality scenarios are presented, some of which look a little silly, including Marshawn Lynch virtually crashing through your wall.
Of course, this is a purely a concept video.
Do you think you’ll one day watch National Football League games in this way?
If the HoloLens technology becomes a success, it will be a dream come true for sports fans worldwide, who can then expect something similar for their favorite sports other than football, such as soccer, tennis, and even swimming.
