How Planned Parenthood became ‘victims of a crime’ in hidden camera case
Anderson’s video responded to charges made by two of the pro-life advocates’ lawyers, who blasted the actions of “a runaway grand jury that has acted contrary to the law”.
Nonetheless, she said the felony charge for “tampering with a governmental document” is appropriate for the use of false identification – although under state law, a jury may only charge someone with a second-degree felony “if the actor’s intent in committing the offense was to defraud or harm another”. Just like all of the other investigations that have been opened and closed, the grand jury cleared them of any wrongdoing.
Right-wing politicians in at least 12 states opened investigations into Planned Parenthood, and more have tried to cut funding or otherwise curtail the group’s operations.
Although what happened during the grand jury’s secret deliberations may never be known, Schaffer said it did not vote on whether to indict Planned Parenthood. The truth will continue to come out through the congressional probe, through the ongoing state investigations and through the frivolous lawsuit Planned Parenthood now brings in retaliation for its exposure.
Republican Gov. Gary Herbert said he stopped funding for sex education and sexually transmitted disease testing because he was troubled by the videos.
Anderson also addresses the allegation-repeatedly emphasized by the anti-abortion news site LifeNews-that a prosecutor in her department who is involved with the Planned Parenthood board actively participated in the presentation of this case to the grand jury. Planned Parenthood has said the fake company offered to pay the “astronomical amount” of $1,600 for organs from a fetus.
In a statement from the Planned Parenthood of IN and Kentucky, they’ve been performing surgical and non-surgical abortions since January 21st.
The results of the district attorney’s office investigation cleared Planned Parenthood of any wrongdoing.
“We are calling upon the District Attorney of Harris County to not proceed in the indictment against both David or Sandra”, Woodfill said. A lawyer for Daleiden said Tuesday that his client planned to plead not guilty and would vigorously defend against the charges.
“Planned Parenthood’s trafficking of baby body parts is antithetical to our belief in human dignity”, Brownback said in his speech.
“I would say this is absolutely a critical point in where we are with women’s health and what priority we put on women’s health in the state of Ohio”, Kelli Arthur Hykes, Dir.
“We believe these haven’t been seen and weren’t seen by the district attorney’s office and that they look to these and review them”, Cain said.
Planned Parenthood sued, and the governor’s order has been put on hold while the case is before the 10th Circuit Court.
Bracy went on to point out the same inconsistency noted in the statement from the Center for Medical Progress, the indictment of Daleiden for a misdemeanor charge of “purchase and sale of human organs” without a corresponding indictment of selling human organs on the part of Planned Parenthood.
