How to Get Away With Murder Recap: Is Levi Eggs 911?
With a twist or a gasp (or at least a vicious put-down) every 12-15 minutes, How to Get Away With Murder is the kind of show that inspires a few pretty outlandish theories.
Start with a dose of future tension…
… In tonight’s episode, Annalise and her team are blindsided when investigators try to pin a new charge on the wealthy siblings she’s been hired to represent. Davis is always great at those more typical Annalise scenes where she’s the hardened, cool attorney-the Annalise that we see in tonight’s courtroom scenes. In this particular case though, Bonnie and Annalise’s argument just feels like excess weight in this episode.
Toss in a sprinkle of future trouble…
…
Who Is the New Mystery Man?
Wes goes into Catherine’s interrogation room and does his innocent puppy routine, but she is onto him. In fact, she might be the first other character on this show to really know Annalise. Coincidence? I think not. Could he be the receiver of that “Eggs 911” message? We nearly hope that it is handled a different way next time, though, mostly because you never want to see the same thing twice. But five or six years from now, when Annalise and Bonnie don their tap shoes for a fantastical routine set to “Roxie’s Suite”, all the puzzle pieces will come together. They found his prints in the auto. Caleb pleaded to Annalise that they were being framed, which actually turned out to be true.
Add a bit of unexpected relief…
… And – stay with me here – when my theory finally gets validated sometime in 2021, we’ll all go “A-HA!” and understand Thursday night’s installment is an extended riff on the delectable jam “When Velma Takes the Stand”. It’s totally reasonable that Oliver wants his private life kept private, and Connor sees that, so, before the episode is over, we see Connor ask for the truth. Oliver breaks all our hearts when he tells Connor that it happened after Connor cheated and Oliver was in a awful place.
And stir until Annalise breaks.
.
It was time for Nate’s (Billy Brown) preliminary hearing and the prosecutor, Emily Sinclair (Sarah Burns), was out for blood.
Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) takes the stand in court on How to Get Away With Murder. Eve seems to take it further than just looking out for her client though, and Annalise steps away shaken. And while it leaves Annalise devastated, it also convinces the judge that St. Clair needs to go back to the drawing board and build a better case. You literally killed an innocent girl by putting a plastic bag over her head.
Make sure to top it off with a lot of sexual tension.
.
After spending the night together, Eve leaves Annalise’s house in the morning, where a spying Nate Lahey spots her and uncovers their secret relationship. Despite objecting to the line of questioning, Annalise eventually gives in to her anger and explodes on the sand.
Oh, and one more thing…
… The end result leaves Eve utterly Keatingnotized – and in the morning, she’s all, “You should move to NYC and let me get you a job at Columbia and it doesn’t mean we’re married and…” Catherine’s brother rants that there is no way they would kill the only eye witness in this case.
