Microsofthas had a vested interest in smartphones for a few time. One – literally – eye-catching feature for the new phones was a new version of Windows Hello, which allows users to bypass password or pattern-locks by scanning their iris for identification purposes.
Tomorrow’s Windows 10 devices launch event at 10 AM EDT (3 PM GMT) today, where it’s expected the company will launch a range of Windows 10 mobile handsets including the rumoured Lumia Talkman (Lumia 950) and Cityman (Lumia 950 XL), Surface Pro 4 and Microsoft Band 2.

While detractors may argue that Microsoft’s relatively small smartphone market share could hold Continuum PC/phone hybrids back, or that other phone makers have failed with similar attempts at creating a practical and affordable mobile PC hybrid, it is also fair to argue that they didn’t have Microsoft backing them.
The adapter lets you connect a monitor, keyboard and PC, and has three ports including a USB Type-C, HDMI and DisplayPort. It is exciting technology, but following a hands-on demo at the Build conference in April, journalists (myself included) were not convinced that it is ready for a mass consumer market, though there will be niche adoption.
