HP’s ZBook Studio workstation starts at $1699
HP’s new lineup of mobile workstations are fit for intense work environments, but pretty enough to show off to your friends. It’s compatible with HP Z440, Z640 and Z840 workstations. “The ZBook Studio endures 120,000 hours of testing and features numerous first-time workstation advancements, including Intel Xeon CPUs with ECC memory, Thunderbolt 3, Gen 2 Z Turbo Drives, HP Sure Start client security, and an 8 million color-critical pixel DreamColor 4k display”.
HP’s ZBook Studio is the company’s thinnest, lightest pro-grade laptop with a quad-core processor.
Also announced today were the HP ZBook 15 and 17, supporting Intel Core or Xeon processors with up to 64 GB of RAM, dual Thunderbolt 3, an optional DreamColor UHD display, and up to 3 (ZBook 15) or 4 (ZBook 17) TB of storage via the HP Z Turbo Drive G2. There are a wide range of available processors, for example, starting with a Intel Xeon E3-1545M v5 with Intel Iris Pro Graphics P580 and ranging all the way up to the Intel Core i7-6700HQ with Intel HD graphics 530.
A lower-cost alternative, the ZBook 15u (starting at $1099), is limited to 32 GB of RAM and 1.5 TB of ZTurbo Drive storage, and supports AMD FirePro graphics. This 15.6-inch premium mobile workstation was completely redesigned and is 27 percent thinner and 7 percent lighter than the previous generation. The ZBook 17 also features Nvidia graphics up to a M5000M Quadro GPU and a 67 percent increase in battery life compared to its predecessor.
If mobility is one of your primary concerns then you’ll be happy to know the new ZBooks also feature a new 150W power adapter that is 37% smaller and 50% lighter with thinner cables that are easier to wrap and store in your bag.

HP’s ZBook Studio will be available in December and start at $1,699.
Ports include two Thunderbolt 3, gigabit ethernet, three USB 3.0, HDMI 1.4, and an SDXC card reader. The new workstation will begin retailing at $1699 (about £1118, AU$2400) in December.
If those external ports aren’t enough for you, HP will gladly sell you the ZBook Dock, which plugs into a free Thunderbolt 3 port. The ZBook Dock gives you an additional four USB 3.0, two DisplayPort, two Thunderbolt 3, VGA, GbE and audio ports. The HP ZBook 17 G3 will be available in January.
