HTC Grip fitness tracker won’t be released
This is a fitness band that was created in collaboration with fitness brand Under Armour.
At the beginning of the year, HTC announced plans to diversify itself from a smartphone-only shop to a more general consumer electronics company. Well, forget it, because although the company is still planning on releasing their fitness band, it’s going to be quite different.
According to a statement sent to Engadget, HTC says that it has “decided to align Grip” with that previously mentioned product portfolio that will arrive “later this year”.
In February 2015, HTC unveiled the Grip, a wearable sports bracelet, the fruit of its union with Under Armour. HTC confirmed that it will launch the Grip alongside its entire product portfolio for health and fitness later this year. That was their fitness tracker they developed with Under Armor, that was announced at MWC in March alongside the HTC One M9 and HTC Vive. In a market where there are tons of new wearables being churned out every other week, we’re not sure a delay will be doing HTC any favors. Called the Grip, the device was a wrist-worn fitness tracker that included a touchscreen and Global Positioning System radio. Since the announcement and early prototype demos, we’ve heard very little about HTC Grip.
“Through our partnership with Under Armour, we have continued to refine our vision and approach to the health and fitness category. We are excited to launch this new comprehensive product suite and will share further details as we get closer to launch”.
