HTC O2 smartphone rumors hinting at Snapdragon 820
When the device was eventually unveiled, it did land with great specs and was a well-designed device, however, that did not stop the One M9 receiving wide criticism for being too similar to the HTC One M8.
For starters, it appears as though HTC may finally be ready to drop the clunky “One M-” branding. According to reports, the 64-bit architecture Kyro inside Snapdragon 820 should be able to boost performance by 35% compared to Snapdragon 810.
That’s the company’s recently announced top-end processor, which Qualcomm hopes will breathe life back into its chip business after the overheating debacle caused by the Snapdragon 810.
The 820 series is expected to be made using the same 14nm FinFET technology used for current Exynos and the upcoming iPhone 6s processors.
Chinese websites MyDrivers and Mobile-dad have revealed that the new phone will feature a 6-inch QHD display with 1440 x 2560 pixels, the upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor, a 4GB RAM, Adreno 520 graphics and will be completely waterproof.
The HTC O2 will supposedly have a narrow body with thin bezels, and will come with dust and water protection. Considering the heating issues we had seen on the Sony Xperia Z4 & few other devices which were running on the Snapdragon 810 chipsets we are not sure how the 820 would process but the stakes are high & Qualcomm would ensure that these issues are fixed.
HTC O2 featuring a Snapdragon 820 is a very commendable choice shown by the smartphone manufacturing firm, especially when we thought that after the Snapdragon 810 fiasco, the company will be looking to form a long-term partnership with MediaTek.
Instead, HTC will launch its new high-end smartphone as HTC O2. Let us know in the comments.
