But with Versi announcing that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update is on track for a July 20 rollout, T-Mobile had to perform some minor damage control.
HTC One M8 Android M update has finally been confirmed.
Android Authority reported about a new update with the label VS98524B, or simply 24B. For the millions of regular owners we’ll have to wait for official over the air updates from carriers.
HTC has been given clearance to airmail Android 5.1 Lollipop to One M9 users on AT&T’s network. Google’s latest mobile operating system, Android M, is now in beta and the public version is due to be released toward the end of the year.
The HTC One M8 is a popular handset, more so, perhaps, than HTC’s current flagship, the M9. “OTA to start on 7/15!!” Along with Android 5.1, the update is said to bring notable improvements to the camera quality, as well as temperature and battery life enhancements. The download and installation processes also require that users have a registered Google account. In addition to the software goodies in Lollipop 5.1, this build includes “Device Protection”. Note that the new Lollipop 5.1.1 firmware is being sent only for stock AT&T One M9 phones.
