HTC Plays Role of Apple’s Foxconn for Google’s New Phones
As expected, Google launched its new Pixel phones, Daydream VR, Chromecast Ultra, Google Wi-Fi, and Google Home products at a press conference today.
The rollout of Nougat 7.0 to the Nexus 6 comes hours ahead of Google’s much hyped hardware event today at which users witness the launch of the firm’s Pixel and Pixel XL phones, the Inquirer reported.

But they’re clearly hoping the new Pixel phones and other devices will be distinguished by their use of Google’s software. It will also be among the first smartphones to include Google’s new Google Assistant, a Siri-like app activated by pressing and holding the home button or saying a trigger word.
The smartphones bring new design language that has been controlled by Google and also invoke a new sense of hardware responsibility for the company.
Google also showcased the device’s camera, which it claims is rated by camera experts Dxomark at 89, the highest ever for a smartphone.
Google, the advertising behemoth owned by Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has made a third attempt at cracking the smartphone market as a manufacturer. On top of that, well, they’re phones, so you can use them as phones. and with all the other chat and communications apps available on Android. The Pixel smartphones are the first in the world to be preloaded with Google Assistant.
The company is promoting the Daydream View VR headset controller, that it says is lighter and more comfortable than predecessors – and can fit over glasses. The only major difference between them is their screens and battery size. Both sizes of the limited edition “Really Blue” Google Pixel phones are already out of stock in the minutes immediately following their announcement on Tuesday. So now just ask questions, tell it to do things. So… a maxed out Pixel XL will set you back $869. It launches in the US, Australia, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom today. In India, it will be available for pre-orders from 13 October. This will be the first Google-branded device completely devoid of indication that it’s made by HTC. As you can see, the company’s smartphones are no longer featuring the “Nexus” moniker, and are, instead, released under the “Pixel” name.
